Are you an art lover? Do you like to make your own art? Did you know that you can find incredible art right here in Rehoboth Beach? Just because you’re on vacation doesn’t mean you can’t get a little culture while you’re here.
Founded in 1938, the Rehoboth Art League (RAL) is a non-profit arts organization dedicated to encouraging and preserving the arts in Southern Delaware. Situated on over 3.5 acres of natural wooded landscape and beautiful gardens in the Henlopen Acres neighborhood, RAL offers a variety of art classes, open studios, exhibitions, and art events.
The Peter Marsh House (or Homestead), built in 1743, is recognized as an historic property in the National Register of Historic Properties. Stroll the grounds and you will find all sorts of little art “gems” tucked away in the garden, along the pathways, and out in the lawn. It’s truly a magical and inspiring place in which to wander and wonder.
If you and the kids need a break from the beach, then visit RAL and unleash your creative talent. RAL offers summer camps for kids as well as a variety of classes for budding artists of all ages. Whether at an open studio, foundation class or master-level workshop, you can find the best way to express yourself through art. Check out the class schedule.
RAL showcases different artists with rotating exhibits every 4 to 5 weeks. Currently running is the popular 76th Annual Members Fine Art Exhibit at the Corkran, Tubbs and Ventures Galleries, which showcases the work of over 120 of its members. Flying In and Out of Margins: Drawings and Prints by Oscar Gillespie in the Homestead will be featured at the Homestead Gallery. Both exhibits run through August 24.
