Get Cooking

Try something new this year! Bring in 2015 with the intention of learning something different. Treat yourself to a hobby or attempt something you’ve always wanted to do.

If learning how to cook like some of the best chefs around is something you’d be interested in, check out the local cooking classes offered by some of Delaware’s most popular restaurants.

Every Saturday, The Big Fish Grill will be hosting cooking classes featuring delicious menu items where you’ll be able to participate in the hands-on preparation and cooking processes. Classes include a restaurant tour, a whole fish cutting demonstration, and preparations and purchasing tips. Each class is unique in that you will learn something new and specialize in cooking something different each time.

For more information, visit Big Fish Grill's website to view dates and agenda’s for specific cooking classes.

Also in January, Salt Air Restaurant in downtown Rehoboth Beach is offering its very first cooking class on Saturday, January 17 from 11am to 2pm. Spend a few hours learning how to prepare classic American dishes paired with delectable wine selections. For more information, visit Salt Air's website.

Eat Around Rehoboth

Eat around Rehoboth

Located at the beach, yet still experiencing the four unique seasons of the year, Rehoboth offers many perks for those who want to get out and make the most of the off-season. This calls for many special event nights at some of the best local restaurants in Rehoboth Beach!

Start the week off at the locals' Monday night hot spot The Cultured Pearl. Enjoy $15 dollar sushi night that includes a variety of sushi rolls, sashimi, and more! You wont leave hungry! If you aren’t a sushi goer, Lupo di Mare is a lovely Italian restaurant right across the street. They offer 25% off your entire check! You can’t go wrong.

During the middle of the week, head on over to Dogfish Head and get your half price burger. Available for lunch and dinner, you’ll get your choice of a beef, turkey, or veggie burger for just $6 every Tuesday. And don’t forget to try their handcraft beer made locally in our area.

Wednesday at the Summer House calls for Prime Rib night! Bring a friend because with every two entrees you’ll get a bottle of wine 50% off! What a deal! Then, every Thursday, go casual and head on over to the “locals” spot at Arena’s for Mexican night! There’s always a crowd and cheerful gathering to participate in.

Friday and Saturday share the spotlight of the week. Enjoy happy hours and live music almost everywhere you go. Some of our favorites include The Summer House, Dogfish Head, and The Blue Moon.

End your week kicking back to Sunday Football with your $6 Football Box from the Big Fish Grill. This carryout only deal is great for bringing your food back to the room and relaxing. Who says you always have to eat your food specials out? This deal is the perfect end to your foodie week and completes the trip!

Labor Day Doesn’t Mean Summer is Over Yet

Labor Day

Yeah, sure, Labor Day typically marks the “official” end to the summer season, but locals know that September is the BEST month at the beach. Just because the kiddos are back to school, it doesn’t mean you can’t plan a weekend visit to Rehoboth Beach. Crowds are smaller and weather is perfect for outdoor activities - just remember to pack your jacket for slightly cooler evenings.

Parking permits are no longer required after Labor Day weekend and parking meters come down mid-month, so parking in town is a breeze. All your favorite shops and restaurants are still open and the Jolly Trolley continues to run on weekends so you can easily buzz around town or visit neighboring Dewey Beach to check out the music festivals held throughout the month.

Additionally, the beach remains guarded until the third weekend of September, so you can be assured that you and your family can "beach" safely.

In the meantime, for those of you that are lucky enough to be on vacation this last week of August, be sure to drop by The Rehoboth Beach Bandstand on Thursday, August 28 at dusk (8:15 – 8:30 pm) to watch Frozen, the final movie of the 2014 Cinema By the Surf summer outdoor film series. The event is free and seats are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
